Glacier County is a very diverse land area containing many mountains including Mount Cleveland at 10,438 feet, in contrast to the plains to the east. The county holds a rugged portion of Glacier
National Park, with many mountains exceeding 9000 feet elevation level. On the west side of the county near the Flathead County line lies the Rocky Mountains and Glacier National Park. Throughout the central and eastern portion of the County are rolling and flat plains,
and scattered buttes. The plains are often windy, and trees in this area are scarce. There are small lakes and rivers throughout
Glacier County. The northern border to the county meets Alberta,
Canada. To the east borders Toole county, and on the southern
end lies Pondera county.
The unique cultural diversity and richness that makes our area
a special place to both live and visit is highlighted by the
proximity of the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. The Blackfeet
Tribe is arguably one of America's most culturally intact native
populations. The area is also home to five active Hutterite
colonies. Steeped in centuries-old Germanic tradition,
a visit to any one of these colonies is a step back in time
to a simpler, less complicated lifestyle.
With Glacier National Park as our backdrop, it's no exaggeration
when we say that we are in the center of the absolute best in
outdoor recreation. World-class fishing, trophy big game hunting,
abundant pheasant and upland bird hunting, hiking, mountain
biking, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, camping
and much more are at your fingertips. With the grandeur and
beauty of some of the most pristine outdoor areas in the country
within sight, the areas of Glacier County offer you a truly
unforgettable experience.
